Aotearoa Surf School offers surfing lessons, camps and accommodation hire for anyone keen to experience the waves of New Zealand’s stunning east coast. Our team is passionate about surf culture and we want to share our love of the sport with you! All equipment is provided, so no need to worry if you’re not quite sure how to start. We cater to all experience levels, so whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned surfer, we have something for you.

We have a range of services to suit all ages and experience levels with everything from locally based kids camps, after school holidays Auckland to overseas surf retreats for adults. We are also the preferred choice for large organisations and corporate events.

A PASSIONATE TEAM

Aotearoa Surf School was founded in 2002 and was one of the founding surf schools in New Zealand. Aotearoa Surf is owned and operated by Che, a local surfer who has a devotion for all things related to the ocean. He has a passionate, experienced and qualified team of instructors from the local area who pride themselves on giving everyone the best experience and memories as possible.

WE’RE ECO-FRIENDLY

Aotearoa is determined to help the environment through the use of eco-friendly products (e.g. sunscreen and wax), regular beach clean ups and the education of New Zealand’s youth on the importance and how to respect the natural environment.

IT’S ALL ABOUT LOCATION!

We operate out of the most beautiful beaches in the Auckland region, including Te Arai, Mangawhai, Orewa, Omaha, Pakiri and Waipu Cove. Our main two beaches, Te Arai and Mangawhai are just 60 minutes north of Auckland’s CBD. These beaches boast clear, blue waters and consistent, fun waves. You will be guaranteed the best, most consistent waves from Auckland to Whangarei when you surf with Aotearoa.

WE CAN DO IT ALL

We can put together ANY package with your surfing; a BBQ, yoga lesson, beach games, paddle boarding kayaking, transport, flights etc. You name it, we’ll package it.

IT’S NOT JUST SURFING, IT’S EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT

A lot of surf schools sell your basic ‘surf experience’. Instead of this, we aim to teach you how to surf by yourself. We give YOU the confidence and knowledge to be surfing on your own including ocean safety, understanding conditions, understanding your board, how to read the waves, we EMPOWER you.
